HYROX is a global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. It’s designed to test endurance, strength, and mental toughness in a structured, repeatable format.
Is HYROX replacing CrossFit at Nela Athletics?
No. HYROX is being added to our programming, not replacing CrossFit. CrossFit remains a core part of what we do. HYROX simply gives our members another training option and another way to challenge themselves.
Why is Nela Athletics adding HYROX training?
We’re adding HYROX because it aligns well with our mission to help people get stronger, fitter, and more confident. It gives members a clear goal, builds engine and durability, and offers a fun new way to train with purpose.
Who is HYROX training for?
HYROX training is for a wide range of people. It can be a great fit for:
You do not need to be an elite athlete to get started.
Do I need to compete in a HYROX race to join the training?
No. You can train HYROX style without ever signing up for a race. Some people will want to compete, and others will simply enjoy the training style and the fitness benefits.
How is HYROX different from CrossFit?
CrossFit is broader and includes more variety across strength, gymnastics, Olympic lifting, and conditioning. HYROX is more specific. It focuses on running and a standard set of functional movements that appear in every race. Both are effective. They just have a different emphasis.
Can I do both CrossFit and HYROX training?
Yes. In fact, many people can benefit from both. CrossFit helps build strength, power, and well-rounded fitness. HYROX can help improve aerobic capacity, pacing, and longer-duration work. Done correctly, they complement each other well.
Will HYROX classes be beginner-friendly?
Yes, with the right scaling. Just like our other programs, workouts can be adjusted based on your current fitness level, experience, and goals. We want this to be challenging, but also approachable.
What kind of workouts are involved in HYROX training?
HYROX training usually includes a mix of:
Will HYROX training help with fat loss and general fitness?
Yes. HYROX training can be very effective for improving conditioning, burning calories, building muscular endurance, and increasing overall fitness. That said, results still depend on consistency, recovery, and nutrition.
Do I need to be a good runner?
No, but you should be willing to work on it. HYROX includes running, so part of the training will involve improving your pacing, efficiency, and capacity over time. You do not need to show up already good at it.
Will HYROX training be hard?
Yes. But hard is not bad. It will be challenging, and that’s part of the appeal. The goal is to meet you where you are, help you progress, and build confidence along the way.
How often should I do HYROX training?
That depends on your goals. Some members may add 1–2 HYROX-focused sessions per week. Others preparing for an event may do more. We’ll help guide members toward the right balance based on their schedule and recovery.
Is this only for competitive athletes?
Not at all. HYROX attracts competitive people, but the training style can benefit everyday adults too. You can participate for performance, personal growth, weight loss, or simply to stay motivated.
When is HYROX training launching at Nela Athletics?
Soon. We’re currently building out the program and getting ready to roll it out. More details on schedule, class format, and launch timing will be announced soon.
How do I learn more or get started?

BOTTOM LINE: HYROX is coming to Nela Athletics as an addition to our programming, giving our members another exciting way to train, improve fitness, and work toward a new challenge without replacing the CrossFit foundation we already believe in.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
