We've all been there.
One day we feel full of motivation to move and get things done, and then all of a sudden, it's gone.
Now what!?
The truth is if we waited for motivation to come along, it would be very difficult to ever reach your goals.
Motivation might light the fire, but determination and discipline are what keep it burning.
Determination is making the commitment to your goal.
Discipline is following through with the small, daily decisions that move you toward it, even when that initial excitement wears off.
Those daily decisions are the habits you build that keep the spark alive and eventually gets that fire lit again.
So, here are my 5 TIPS to keep you showing up for yourself even when motivation kicks the bucket:
1. Start small. Choose one realistic action you can repeat consistently.
2. Schedule it. Workouts, meal prep, walks, recovery—things that get scheduled have a better chance of getting done.
3. Make it easy to follow through. Sign up for class ahead of time, lay out your clothes, pack your gym bag, prep your food. Remove the little obstacles that give you an excuse not to do it.
4. Try the 2-Day Rule. Don't let yourself skip your habit more than two times in a row. Life happens and perfection isn't the goal. The important part is getting back to it before a few missed days turn into a few missed weeks.
5. And celebrate the wins. Every time you follow through, you're building momentum—and proving to yourself that you can.
What's one goal you've wanted to accomplish but haven't quite reached? What stopped you?
Maybe it's time to revisit it—or set a new one.
If you want some help figuring out how to get there, schedule a Goal-Setting Session with us and let's chat. Together, we can identify what's been getting in the way and build realistic habits that actually fit your life.
Remember, motivation can get you started. The goal is to build habits that keep you going.
